Youth Prevention Education Curriculum

NC Problem Gambling Program
Interactive 2D animation and curriculum design project making complex neuroscience accessible for youth prevention education

Engaging Young Minds: Youth Prevention Education Animation

Developing a curriculum for middle schoolers requires a delicate balance of science and storytelling. For this project, Amazing Studios utilized youth prevention education animation to bring neuroscience to life for the North Carolina Problem Gambling Program (NCPGP). We introduced a relatable character named “Sam the Fish.” This character guides students through challenging topics like risky behaviors and brain health. Our creative strategy focused on making dense information feel approachable. Furthermore, we ensured the tone remained student-centered and modern throughout every lesson.

The core objective was to create a visually dynamic experience. Therefore, we avoided overly academic designs. Instead, our team combined science-driven content with vibrant 2D visuals. This approach resonates with both youth and educators. Consequently, the final curriculum reinforces key lessons in a way that is truly memorable.

Interactive Branding for Educational Consistency

A successful educational campaign must maintain a consistent look across all touchpoints. For Sam the Fish, we designed a cohesive brand identity for the entire program. This included custom graphics for lesson plans and student worksheets. Additionally, we branded a comprehensive 60-page guidebook. Our designers carefully shaped the look and feel to ensure every slide felt intentional.

We also provided fully branded PowerPoint templates. These templates allow educators to relay complex definitions with ease. Furthermore, we integrated high-quality graphics to support student activities. This consistency helps students stay engaged with the material. As a result, the curriculum serves as a professional, unified tool for the classroom.

Multi-Media Deliverables for the Modern Classroom

Effective youth prevention education animation relies on varied media formats. We delivered a robust package of digital and print assets to meet diverse learning needs:

  • Dynamic 2D Animations: We created 17 short, attention-triggering animations to punctuate PowerPoint content.
  • Story-Driven Narrative: Our team produced three longer animations following Sam the Fish’s storyline.
  • Custom Graphic Assets: We designed 50 unique graphics to visually represent neuroscience concepts.
  • Professional Voice-Overs: We integrated supportive storytelling audio to guide the narrative.
  • Print-Ready Materials: Our deliverables included fully designed worksheets and guides for physical distribution.

Final Thoughts

This project successfully turned complex science into an engaging student experience. By using the power of 2D animation, we helped NCPGP reach a younger audience more effectively. The final curriculum is both a teaching tool and a visual narrative. Amazing Studios is proud to support initiatives that invest in the health of our youth.

Amazing Studios has a dynamic team of people who know how to meet the client where they are in the design phase of a product or service. The team took a rough draft of youth prevention education curriculum featuring the character "Sam the Fish" and made it come to life. Not only did Amazing Studios complete the work within our timeframe, but they also were flexible in how and when they delivered the product based on our needs. My team now has a product that we feel proud to promote across the state of North Carolina educating youth about toxic stress, addiction, and brain health. Thank you, Mike Cole! We are so proud of what you and your team have provided to us. We hope to partner with you again soon!
