Immersive Design Event

NC Children’s
A documentary-style healthcare event video capturing clinicians, architects, and project partners shaping the future of pediatric care.

Documenting Collaboration Through Healthcare Event Video

Planning a hospital takes far more than blueprints. It requires clinicians, architects, and project partners to test ideas together, question assumptions, and shape spaces around the people who will use them. For NC Children’s, Amazing Studios created a healthcare event video that captures that process in motion.

NC Children’s is being developed through a partnership between Duke and UNC as North Carolina’s first standalone children’s hospital. During an immersive design event, specialists gathered around full-scale and tabletop cardboard representations of future clinical spaces. Their goal was practical and ambitious: make thoughtful decisions now that can support better pediatric care for years to come.

Making a Complex Planning Process Feel Human

Most audiences never see how much collaboration happens before construction begins. Therefore, the video needed to make a technical planning milestone clear, purposeful, and emotionally relevant. We focused on the people behind the plans—the experts measuring distances, moving through mock rooms, exchanging ideas, and solving problems together.

That human-centered approach gave viewers an accessible way into the story. Instead of explaining every technical detail, the film shows how each decision connects to future children, families, and care teams.

Organic Coverage With a Cinematic Eye

The event was active, unscripted, and constantly evolving. As a result, our production team stayed flexible across three afternoons of filming. We followed natural interactions rather than staging them, while still looking for strong composition, movement, and visual variety.

Our cameras captured hands-on planning, cardboard room models, environmental details, and collaboration across different specialties. At the same time, we gathered ambient sound to preserve the energy of the room. The result feels polished without losing the honesty of the work.

Interviews That Keep the Story Moving

Short, informal interviews helped turn the event footage into a focused narrative. We filmed clinicians and project leaders with the planning activity visible behind them, so every reflection remained connected to the environment.

Because the speakers represented both Duke and UNC, the interviews also reinforced a shared vision. Clear lower thirds identified each person’s role and expertise, while concise soundbites explained why the planning mattered. Together, those voices gave the final film both authority and heart.

Deliverables Built for Today and Tomorrow

A strong healthcare event video can do more than recap one day. It can become a lasting communications asset. For this project, Amazing Studios delivered:

  • A polished 90-second main video in a 16:9 format
  • Light graphics and professional lower thirds
  • A color-graded library of selected b-roll
  • Organized footage ready for future communications

The main edit gives NC Children’s a concise story to share now. Meanwhile, the b-roll library creates long-term value for presentations, social content, milestone updates, and future brand storytelling.

Final Thoughts

This project shows what documentary-style production can reveal: not just what an organization is building, but how its people are building it. By pairing organic event coverage with focused interviews and thoughtful post-production, Amazing Studios transformed a complex planning process into a clear, hopeful story about the future of pediatric care.
