You might be asking, does video really have an impact on SEO? To answer that question, you have to first ask yourself…what do people like? The answer is, people like videos. Therefore, search engines like videos.  Which leads us back to videos can improve your SEO. Let’s take a look at 5 ways video has an impact on your search results.

#1 – Content. To have good SEO rankings, you have to have great content.

Per the American Marketing Association, “the days of driving traffic to your site by packing headlines with keywords are long gone, experts say, and the new SEO strategy revolves around another big-money marketing focus: experience.”

And what provides an experience better than video?

#2 – Perceived Value. Do you have content that people are looking for?

Video helps send signals to search engines that your page or website contains rich media and is relevant to search requests.  Consumer demand for videos is increasing, therefore adding video to your site will help improve perceived value.

Which leads me to this next point. The more likes your videos have, the more relevant the content appears to the search engine. So, make sure your videos are addressing your target audience and they actually like what you have to share.

#3 – Increase Exposure.

Aside from Youtube and your website, it is important to share videos on your blog, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media accounts to maximize exposure, increase views and hopefully get more likes and  shares.

The more information you provide with the video, the better chance the search engine can identify your videos as relevant to search queries. Leverage titles, file names and descriptions to add keywords to your video content. You can also include the video transcript or use the video as a complementary addition to  the written content you have on the page.
